Do you work with NDIS participants?
Yes! We have extensive experience working with NDIS participants since the scheme's inception. We provide comprehensive assessments, ongoing therapy, and detailed reports for plan reviews. We understand how to maximise funding opportunities and ensure your child receives optimal support. We are a registered NDIS provider and can invoice directly to your plan.
What age groups do you work with?
We specialise in working with children aged 2 and above, with a particular focus on ages 3-6 years. We work with children through their school years, providing support tailored to each developmental stage. Our expertise includes early intervention for toddlers as well as school-age children requiring speech, language, and occupational therapy support.
How do mobile therapy sessions work?
We come directly to your preferred location — whether that's your home, your child's school, daycare, workplace, care centre, or another suitable venue. This allows therapy to take place in familiar, comfortable environments where your child feels safe and confident, leading to better engagement and outcomes. Mobile therapy also means you don't need to worry about travel or disrupting your child's routine.
Do you offer telehealth sessions?
Yes, we offer telehealth sessions for families who prefer remote therapy or when in-person visits aren't suitable. Telehealth can be particularly effective for older children, follow-up sessions, parent coaching, and when distance or scheduling makes in-person sessions challenging. Telehealth sessions are NDIS-approved.
What should I expect in the first session?
The first session typically involves a comprehensive assessment where we get to know your child, understand their communication needs, and observe their current abilities. We'll discuss your concerns, gather background information, and begin developing a tailored therapy plan. This session helps establish rapport with your child and sets the foundation for our work together. The initial session usually takes 60-90 minutes.
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are typically 45-60 minutes, depending on your child's age, needs, and attention span. For very young children or those with limited attention, shorter sessions may be more appropriate. We can discuss the optimal session length during your initial consultation.
How often will my child need therapy?
The frequency of therapy depends on your child's individual needs, goals, and available funding. Some children benefit from weekly sessions, while others may need more or less frequent support. We'll discuss recommendations during the assessment and work with you to develop a schedule that fits your child's needs and your family's availability.
Will I need to be involved in therapy?
Yes! Parent involvement is crucial for maximising your child's progress. We use a collaborative, family-centred approach where we provide coaching and strategies you can use throughout your daily routines. You're welcome to observe and participate in sessions, and we'll provide home activities and strategies to support your child's development between sessions.
Do you provide assessment reports?
Yes, we provide comprehensive written reports following assessments. These reports include background information, assessment results, interpretation of findings, diagnosis (if applicable), and detailed recommendations for therapy and home/school support. Reports are suitable for NDIS, schools, paediatricians, and other professionals. We also provide progress reports and plan review reports as needed.
Can you work with my child's school or daycare?
Absolutely! We can provide therapy sessions at your child's school or daycare, and we're happy to collaborate with teachers and educators to ensure consistent support across all environments. With your consent, we can attend meetings, provide recommendations, and share strategies to support your child's communication and development in educational settings.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be charged at the full session rate. We understand that emergencies and illnesses happen, and we work with families to reschedule when possible. Clear communication helps us maintain a consistent therapy schedule for your child.
How much do sessions cost?
For NDIS participants, we charge in accordance with NDIS pricing guidelines and invoice directly to your plan. For private clients, we provide pricing information during the initial consultation. Please contact us to discuss fees and payment options. We aim to make therapy accessible and can discuss flexible payment arrangements if needed.
Are you currently accepting new clients?
Yes! We are actively welcoming new families and have availability for both NDIS and private clients. Contact us to discuss your needs and schedule an initial consultation. We typically respond to enquiries within 24 hours.
What makes your service different?
We bring a multidisciplinary team of experienced therapists with particular expertise in autism, complex cases, and NDIS support. Our mobile service means therapy happens in your child's natural environment, and we take a family-centred, collaborative approach. We understand the challenges families face and work flexibly to fit therapy into your life. We're committed to building long-term relationships with families and celebrating every step of progress together.
How do I get started?
Getting started is easy! Simply contact us via phone (0432 309 882), email (admin@leaptherapy.com.au), or the contact form on this website. We'll have a brief conversation about your child's needs, confirm you're in our service area, and schedule an initial consultation. We'll answer any questions you have and explain the assessment process. We look forward to meeting you and your child!
Do you offer occupational therapy?
Yes! We offer occupational therapy alongside our speech therapy services. Our occupational therapist works with children on fine motor skills, sensory processing, daily living skills, handwriting, and more. Having both services under one team means we can provide coordinated, multidisciplinary care for your child.
What is a multidisciplinary approach?
A multidisciplinary approach means our speech therapists and occupational therapist work together as a team to support your child's development. We share insights, coordinate goals, and create unified therapy plans so your child receives comprehensive, joined-up care rather than separate, disconnected services.
Can my child see both a speech therapist and an occupational therapist?
Absolutely! Many children benefit from both speech therapy and occupational therapy. Our team collaborates closely to ensure therapy goals complement each other, making the most of your child's sessions and NDIS funding. We can discuss which services would best support your child during the initial consultation.
